Cravings are the downfall of many a diet. In fact, they’re single-handedly responsible for taking the best intentions to lose weight and making them a mere afterthought.

The reality is, you can’t expect to battle your body’s natural instincts (hunger) with nothing but willpower … and win. As such, this article will give you a few key “weapons” you can use to keep cravings at bay. That way, you’ll continue to burn stomach fat day in and and day out.

Now, before we get started, make note of the following…

The best way to fight cravings is to decrease their incidence from the get go. How can you do this? Simple: eat clean. That means, you stick to natural, whole foods devoid of simple sugars and refined carbohydrates. The latter cause wild blood sugar swings that ultimately result in the irresistible urge to eat something sweet (or even salty).

Furthermore, processed foods lack the essential micronutrients your body needs to thrive. And when you don’t get the right micronutrients in your diet, cravings naturally follow. And you will continue to crave until you give your body what it wants… regardless of how many calories you’re eating.

Furthermore, fiber stabilizes blood sugar levels, which as you already know, is the key to stopping cravings.

Craving Killer #2: Dark Chocolate. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? And while not actually cake, chocolate is just as tasty and fights the urge to eat junk food.

That’s because it increases chemicals in your brain known as endorphins. The latter make you happy and calm, and thus, less likely to reach for that bag of chips. Dark chocolate also lowers a key appetite hormone (ghrelin) providing you with a “one-two punch” against diet crushing cravings.

Craving Killer #3: Almonds. Almonds are a favorite among nut-lovers. And luckily so because it’s one of the best ways to fight fat. They’re rich in vitamin E, magnesium, and antioxidants, and studies show they increase the feeling of fullness.

Not only that, but almonds seem to slow down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream. That means fewer insulin spikes which goes a long way to ensuring steady-state fat loss.

    So, The Dark Chocolate covered Almonds, I bought today to help with the little sweet tooth are a good choice. :)
    I am looking forward to getting all my books & such in the mail, much more reading to do & think I will like your twist on the low carb way of eating. It is hard for women, especially to cut out all sweets for any extended period of time.

    I have an allergy to tree nuts and therefore can not eat almonds (although I love them!) Is it ok to substitute peanuts instead of almonds? As a snack.
