Try This Trick Before Eating If You Want to Burn Fat Faster

February 1, 2013 | By | 20 Comments

Do one of these 2 things before eating if you want to burn off belly fat both faster and easier…

One of the major factors that determines weight loss or weight gain is your blood sugar. Specifically, how well you control it. For instance, if you eat a meal heavy in refined carbs (i.e. cereal, pasta) you’ll send it through the roof. And that goes double if you’re diabetic.

Now, the reason why blood sugar control is so important for fat loss is because of the hormone insulin. In short, the larger the spike in blood sugar, the more insulin your pancreas must secrete to bring it down to normal levels. But besides this lowering effect, insulin also leads to fat storage and prevents your body from burning it.

With that said, there are a couple of “tricks” you can try – right before eating – to decrease the rise in blood sugar (and hence, help you to burn fat faster and easier). One of them has shown to lower blood sugar by 10% and the other by a whopping 29%!

The best part?

These “tricks” are simple to do, they’re natural, good for you, and you should try them as soon as today. Furthermore, they’ve both been put to the test by best-selling author of The 4-Hour Body, Tim Ferris (that’s where those percentages come from).

Here they are…

Trick #1: Drink 3 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed lemon juice before sitting down to eat. But keep in mind, this has to be the fresh kind that you get from squeezing your OWN lemons – not the store bought junk.

Trick #2: Take 2 cinnamon capsules before your meal. Also, out of the 3 that were tested by Tim, Saigon (or Vietnamese) cinnamon had the greatest effect on the blood sugar response.

And that’s all there is to it. Simple, yet effective things that you or anyone else can incorporate into your daily routine to help you shed the pounds faster.

I suffer from very high acid reflex and I love lemon but it kills my stomach when ever I take it. Is there any else natural other than the lemon I can take instead?

Cinnamon capsules make me a little nauseated, and they tend to want to come back up. My Cinnamon says take 1 capsule a day, won’t 6 a day hurt you?

I take Braags Apple Cider Vinegar 1-2 tablespoons in 8 oz of water. Works for me and you can add a tablespoon of pure honey.
It does not interfere with my diabetes control. Also add Saigon Cinnamon along with it. A great health drink.
I lowered my A1C from 6.9 to 5.9 in 4 months and tested this treatment by stopping just the cinnamon and the numbers went up to 6.1 after 3 months. re-started the cinnamon and after another 3 months my A1C dropped to 5.4. I quit metformin and haven’t needed any meds now for 2 years. Pass this along to any pre or full blown diabetics you know. Hope this helps your acid re-flux.

Does it matter when you take it or how often?

I will definitely try Braags Apple cider and the mix you described. I used to do this without the honey or cinnamon and it curbed my desire for sweets. I was just thinking about starting back again! Thanks!

Do you drink it before every meal?
I used to drink it once, first thing in the morning

Chew 3 or 4 papaya enzyme tablets before you take the lemon juice. It is natural, it works, you can find it almost anywhere and it is cheap. Look in the vitamin section.

Lemon juice is an alkaline. It’s unlikely to cause acid indigestion or acid reflux. More than likely the acidic reaction is from another source. Sugar, and starch-based carbs are, on the other hand, highly acidic.

In a previous email you mentioned eating grapefruit to do the same thing. Is lemon better than the grapefruit?

  7. Barbara Cohen

What about the negative interaction of grapefruit with so many medications?

    • Hi Barbara,

A lot of people can’t eat grapefruit for that particular reason. Another thing you can do is eat a handful of pistachios (~ 3 oz.) about 30 minutes before your meal. There was another study that showed a similar effect as the grapefruit.
