Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)
Extra Active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training)

You need to eat calories per day to maintain your current weight*.
You need to eat calories per day to lose approximately one pound per week*.
You need to eat calories per day to gain approximately one pound per week*.

*PLEASE NOTE: These figures are good to know if you’re starting a weight loss program. Nevertheless, keep in mind that they are very rough estimates. It is basically impossible to predict how much weight you’ll lose by eating a certain number of calories.

While you can strictly control how much food you eat, it is your body that ultimately decides how those calories get used (i.e. to burn them, to store them as fat). This is why people can lose much more (or much less) weight despite straying from the above calculated numbers. For a more in-depth explanation, please read: is a calorie a calorie?
